Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire Ipswich, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for the chosen vehicle is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Ensure you have valid payment details and a security deposit ready. Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Ipswich office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same state as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as when picked up; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you expect to return the vehicle late, notify us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra fees. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during the rental period, along with a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly against policy. The vehicle should not be used for purposes it is not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving outside the designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations in Ipswich
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Ipswich will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for the rental in the last 12 months.
